Robot Arm Concepts
A sample of exploratory thoughts on joint mechanisms

A student project from back at Stanford, thinking up new concepts for how robot arms could articulate, for Prof. Ken Salisbury, founder of Intuitive Surgical.

The main goals were to have a mechanism that is safer (avoids points where human fingers could get pinched and injured by the robot arm, and has less mass out on the distal end of the arm) while retaining many degrees of freedom and adequate grasping strength.
